You will learn how to put a widget on the window that can execute any OpenGL command. Next, you will learn to load images and transfer them to OpenGL textures. Then you learn how to use those textures and how to map them into the 3D space. Along the way you will learn tips and tricks such as dealing with transparency issues and depth.Since this tutorial doesnt try to build up your knowledge about OpenGL background and history, it requires a beginners background in C++, Qt and OpenGL. We will start from an empty project and build it one class, function or method at a time until we get the desired result.

To differentiate between code lines that are added to (or removed from) the previous codes, different colors are used.So to follow the incremental approach in this tutorial you need to have either Qt4 or Qt5 installed on your system. You also need an IDE like Qt Creator or Visual Studio C++ (Not Express) with Qt-addin installed. Here we use Visual Studio 2010 but you can follow the tutorial if you have Qt Creator or any other version of Visual C++.The link for downloading the final program is also included and comes at the end of the ebook.

The final package also includes the solution and project file for Visual Studio 2010.
